NEWS: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop Set to Reopen at Disney’s Beach Club Resort
If you’ve been to Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Beach Club Resort you know how crowded this little shop can get. It was one of the reasons the restaurant recently closed for refurbishment and expansion. Disney has announced the reopening date, along with some new menu items, and we’re so excited. Catch all the details below.
Here are all the details from Disney cast member Alex Dunlap:
Bring out the spoons and get ready to return to one of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort! That’s right, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is set to reopen at Disney’s Beach Club Resort on December 26, 2019. The popular restaurant will return with those classic fan-favorite flavored sodas, malted milkshakes, hot-off-the-grill items, and of course the beloved Kitchen Sink.
When Beaches & Cream Soda Shop reopens, you’ll find even more room to enjoy those diner dishes and desserts. As part of an improved layout and enhanced experience, the restaurant has expanded to offer more space, inviting returning fans and first-timers more opportunities to scoop up a spot. In addition, a fresh new look embraces the timeless charm of an old-fashioned soda fountain. Throughout the playful eatery are subtle pops of color found within its beach-inspired design. Soft shades of teal, almond, and rose adorn the walls and décor, along with accents of yellow and blue. Colorful, decorative balls reminiscent of beach balls are scattered throughout, while a collection of blue, amber, and pink beaded glass globes hang overhead highlighting the center of the space. At the counter, bistro-styled barstools are situated in front of scalloped aqua tiles and rose-colored banquettes line the tables along the wall. And prominently situated near the counter is a tall, bright jukebox, a staple within this turn-of-the-century soda fountain, featuring hits that span the decades. Framed antique mirrors and artwork of Mickey and friends at the beach complete the space.
In addition to all of these colorful transformations, you’ll find a number of new items sprinkled throughout the menu, including a Seared Salmon Filet Sandwich (with bacon aïoli, lettuce, and tomato on a house-baked multi-grain bun), a French Dip Sandwich (topped with crispy fried onions and swiss cheese and served on a toasted French roll), and a selection of loaded tots like the Sock Hop Topped with cheese sauce and green onions. There’s also a plant-based loaded tots with plant-based chili, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and green onions. Another plant-based option on the menu will be the Plant-Based Burger featuring a plant-based patty with plant-based mayonnaise and caramelized balsamic onion jam on a house-baked multi-grain bun.
And to satisfy your sweet tooth, there are plenty of sweet treats on the menu, including the popular specialty shakes and sundaes as well as seasonal cheesecake and Old Fashion Apple Pie! And another new dessert is COOKIE FRIES! This yummy dish comes with marshmallow cream, chocolate, caramel, and strawberry dipping sauces and it’s not just delicious, it’s plant-based too! And of course, if you’re up to the challenge, you and your friends can take on the famous Kitchen Sink sundae with scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and mint chocolate chip ice cream smothered in every topping available!
Reservations are now live for bookings starting on December 26, 2019. For more information or to make reservations, visit the Walt Disney World Resort website or the My Disney Experience app!

by Mike and Jamie Sylvester
If you’ve never been to Beaches & Cream Soda Shop – well, to say you are in for a “treat” is an understatement. Growing in popularity, this tasty restaurant has grown from a hidden gem to a family favorite for many. Here are our top 5 reasons we love Beaches & Cream Soda Shop!
1 – Nostalgic Boardwalk-Style Soda Shop
Located at the beautiful Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is nestled perfectly along Stormalong Bay. There is something about the view of the pool and gorgeous landscape at the Beach Club Resort that sets the scene for what to expect inside Beaches & Cream. Cute ice cream cone tables are just outside the restaurant along with Cast Members dressed in what you’d expect to see in a 1950’s ice cream shop. Once inside, we were immediately surprised at how small this restaurant really is which is why it is tricky to obtain a reservation here at times. A few booths line the wall, stools are pulled up to the diner-style bar, and a handful of simple tables and chairs are scattered between the two. The interior décor is absolutely perfect from the floors to the lights – but we especially love the jukebox! Have a seat and you’ll feel the fun and light atmosphere of this nostalgic, Atlantic seashore boardwalk-style soda shop.
Editor’s Note: Beaches & Cream is currently under refurbishment and the decor will be updated.
2 – True American Food
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is among our list of favorite restaurants for true American food on Disney World property. As if the setting as mentioned above isn’t enough – the delicious food and aromas here are spectacular! Serving up both lunch and dinner, the menu at Beaches & Cream boasts all the American favorites such as a Beaches Patty Melt, Beaches Hot Dog, Angus Beef Burger, Chicken Sandwich, and Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque – just to name a few. We especially recommend their onion rings!
3 – The Kitchen Sink
So, let’s get to the REAL reason we love Beaches & Cream… the DESSERTS! While we like to have a hearty meal, saving room for something from this dessert menu is an absolute must-do. From sundaes, to shakes, to sodas – there is a dessert that will appeal to everyone in your family. Some of our favorites include their Root Beer or Coke Float, Malts, Milky Way Sundae, and Grilled Banana Bread and Peanut Butter. But, the ultimate – what you have to get and take a picture of as a vacation favorite – The Kitchen Sink. When they bring “The Kitchen Sink” out to your table, special lights and noises go off, along with Cast Members calling out “The Kitchen Sink”! This baby serves 4 (but even with 4 it’s tricky to finish!) and is a huge pile of ice cream scoops including flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and mint chocolate chip. To top it off – EVERY topping at Beaches & Cream is added to the already large mound of goodness! Our mouths are watering just thinking about it.
4 – Sweet Treat On the Go
Another reason why we love Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is because they have an easy walk-up, on the go ordering location within the restaurant. This is especially great if you were unable to snag a reservation or if you have other plans to dine but still want a taste of Beaches & Creams heavenly desserts. While you can’t order from the food menu at this quick stop, it is perfect for a cool and refreshing ice cream cone on the go. Watching people pour in and out of this little sweet spot just adds to the atmosphere of the whole soda shop theme.
5 – Adult Beverage Desserts!
Not too long ago, Beaches and Cream decide to add an Adult Beverage menu – and we rejoiced! Now serving Adult Hard Floats and Milkshakes, adults can let their taste buds celebrate one of these 5 dessert options: S’mores Shake, The Classic Root Beer Float, Grasshopper Float, Tropical Sunrise Float, and Stout Float. Our favorite so far would have to be the Grasshopper Float because we are mint ice cream fans. The Grasshopper Float has Guinness Stout with mint chip ice cream. We also like the S’mores Shakes which is chocolate and vanilla ice cream, Amarula Cream liqueur and Cream de Dark Coco topped off with marshmallows, graham, and chocolate sauce. Amazing!
So who’s ready for some great food and superb desserts?! A couple of things before you go…
- If at all possible, make a dining reservation well in advance. There are times when they are not able to accept walk-ups due to this size of the restaurant and the crowds trying to dine there. If they are able to accept walk-ups, the wait time for a table is usually close to an hour plus.
- If you aren’t staying at the Beach Club Resort, you are still welcome to dine at Beaches & Cream! Simply drive to the Beach Club Resort or you can walk over from Epcot or one of the Boardwalk Resorts.
