NEWS: First Look at New ‘Disney Hercules’ Stage Show Aboard Disney Destiny

The Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s next ship and sister ship to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will sail its maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2025. We recently enjoyed a sneak peek at the Disney Destiny showcase and the exclusive offerings coming to the ship and were blown away by what we learned. One thing we are really excited about is the upcoming Disney Hercules stage show! Learn more below.

Bless my soul, Disney Cruise Line is on a roll! We’re going “zero to hero” this week with an epic lineup of updates and reveals for the Disney Destiny, our new heroes and villains-themed ship that sets sail later this year.

Last summer, we announced that the Disney Destiny will debut a Broadway-style stage adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules, and now I’m thrilled to share a first look at the stunning new show that’s sure to prove “whose daring deeds are great theater” for a new generation of Disney cruisers!

“Disney Hercules” will stay true to the story and spirit of the beloved film with a fresh, contemporary retelling centered around the legendary soundtrack. Featuring a celebration of iconic songs like “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” this show will present incredible live renditions like you’ve never heard before through new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.

In addition to all of the songs from the film, “Disney Hercules” will include the theatrical debut of “Shooting Star,” a heartfelt ballad originally written for the movie by Alan Menken and David Zippel.

All of your favorite gods, mortals and mythical beings from the movie will be part of the story, many represented in surprising new ways.

Like the film, the Muses will be the show’s storytellers, and their over-the-top personalities and transcendent vocals will shine on stage. High-fashion costume designs will showcase the opulence of the gods of Mount Olympus and contrast starkly with the more understated and humble attire worn by the humans and creatures of Earth.

Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is bringing to life some of this tale’s most larger-than-life characters through jaw-dropping puppetry, building on the innovative designs we debuted in “Disney The Tale of Moana” aboard the Disney Treasure last year. Embodying the ship’s theme of “heroes and villains,” our new show will use these massive puppets to represent the mythological behemoths — like the multi-headed Hydra monster — that Hercules must defeat to fulfill his hero’s journey.

Developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny, “Disney Hercules” will be one of three stage shows aboard the new ship, along with fan-favorites “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”

What’s better than one new Disney Cruise ship? How about four brand new Disney Cruise Line ships joining the fleet?

Four is the magic number! Announced during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, Josh D’Amaro (with a little help from musical group All-4-One) revealed that four ships will be joining Disney Cruise Line’s ever-growing roster of award-winning ships sailing around the world. These new ships will arrive between 2027 and 2031.

Five ships are currently in the fleet, with four others already in the works. These new, four additional ships will bring the fleet to a total of 13, giving you 13 different opportunities to experience everything that Disney Cruise Line is known for. The ship names, designs, and exciting itineraries are still in development, but go ahead and start dreaming about your next sailing!

From Zero to Hero: Disney Cruise Line to Debut All-New “Hercules” Stage Show

Your favorite Greek gladiator will take center stage onboard the Disney Destiny in an all-new, Broadway-style show, “Disney Hercules” when the ship sets sail in November 2025.

This lively retelling of the popular Walt Disney Animation Studios film will feature the iconic music and larger-than-life characters we all know and love from the original movie, presented in an all-new way.

Mythical Melodies: New Take on a Timeless Tale

Developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny, “Disney Hercules” will stay true to the story and spirit of the film while showcasing a bold, modern adaptation tailor-made for the stage.

The production will draw on the creative team’s extensive and diverse experience that ranges from theatre to pop music. Get ready for show-stopping musical numbers, incredible vocals, stunning visuals, immersive projection effects and so much more!

What to Expect: The Gospel Truth

Like the film, the Muses will be the show’s storytellers and take you on the journey through this ancient tale of good vs. evil.

The show will include all the beloved songs from the film, so be prepared to go the distance! Plus, the theatrical debut of heartful ballad “Shooting Star.”
