Refillable Mugs at Disney World – What You Need to Know

The refillable mugs have always been a great deal for our family.  We love having them and having each person have their own so they can make their own selections for drinks. Since it is refillable, the price is set, so you can easily budget them in and will not have to worry about additional costs again, which is very helpful to families on a budget.  If you are considering refillable mugs for your next Disney vacation, here are eight things you need to know.

8 – How to get them.

You will find the mugs in the gift shops at each resort’s quick-service location.  You will need to purchase them at the register, and then you will be able to use them immediately.  The cost for the mugs is $22.99 and will be good for the length of your stay.

7 – Refillable mugs and the Disney Dining Plan.

If you purchase one of the Disney Dining Plans as part of your vacation package, you get the rapid refill mugs as part of the package.  This means that every paid Dining Plan member of your party will receive their own mug that will work for the entire length of your stay.  You will still get them at the quick-service location, and the cashier will use your entitlements on your dining plan to pay for them.

6 – How to activate them.

They are activated at the time of purchase.  They will be put on a little machine where the chip in the cup will be activated for the number of days you purchased or are available based on your Dining Plan.

5 – What drink options are available?

There are tons of drink options!  The specific options may vary from resort to resort, but you will definitely have tons of Coca-Cola product options, PowerAde, fruit punches, fruit-flavored drinks, coffee, teas, and more.  There are sinks where you can rinse and clean your mugs between uses so you can enjoy a wide variety of drinks depending on your mood and tastes.  The mugs work great for hot or cold beverages, so you don’t have to worry about that either!

4 – How they work.

The cups have a chip in them that is activated at the time of purchase.  You then place the cup on the chip reader under the choice of drink that you want.  It will then dispense the drink into your cup.  There will be a minute or two delay in between when you can refill your mug again, so if you dump your cup out and try to refill it with something else right away, just be mindful of that, as it may take a couple of minutes before you can refill again.

3 – You can get them and/or use them at any Disney resort.

You don’t have to stay at the resort to purchase or use your mugs.  Even if you have a Disney Dining Plan, you can also redeem your cup entitlements at another resort.  It doesn’t have to be the resort you are staying in.  You can also use the cups at any resort.  So, if you are resort hopping and touring other resorts, you can take your cups with you, and you will be able to use them, too.  They aren’t able to be refilled within any of the theme parks or water parks, though.

2 – They make great souvenirs.

You do get to keep the mugs when you leave! These are great Disney souvenirs to bring home after your trip.  You can continue to use them for your daily coffee and other beverages so that you can have a little bit of Disney in your day!  Everything tastes better when you add a little bit of Disney to it!

1 – The mugs are dishwasher-safe.

If you are worried about the care when you get home, they are dishwasher safe so you can wash them with your other dishes easily, and they won’t be high maintenance for you to keep and incorporate into your daily routine!

Kristin

Hi! I’m Kristin, and I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys (ages 5 and 2). I first fell in love with Disney when my mom took me when I was a child. After that I proceeded to go to WDW for my senior trip with my friends, and I completed a year in the Disney College Program (working in merchandise at Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). I shared my love of Disney with my now husband and sucked him in. We vacationed at Walt Disney World 2-3 times per year. We decided that what maked more sense was just moving to Orlando so that we could live the Disney life and be here for all of our favorite events and seasons every year. That is exactly what we did! Now we are at the parks a couple times a week and go for most events and major holidays. We can’t get enough and get to experience Disney in a whole different way.
