10 Facts & Secrets of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure invites guests to join beloved characters Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, and all- new friends on a thrilling adventure, all set against the music and excitement of a New Orleans celebration. This new attraction features dozens of Audio-Animatronics figures, a foot-tapping soundtrack, and a celebration where everyone’s welcome. Here are ten facts and secrets about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
1 – Princess and the Frog-Inspired Attraction
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Princess and the Frog” debuted in 2009 and celebrates 15 years of bayou magic this year. Since the film’s release, Tiana has become a fan-favorite princess.
2 – Tiana’s Foods
Tiana has become a successful businesswoman! In addition to opening Tiana’s Palace, she has grown her business with an employee-owned cooperative, Tiana’s Foods. She houses Tiana’s Foods in a former salt mining facility that she has transformed. Tiana purchased the aging salt mine as well as the surrounding land to create Tiana’s Foods.
3 – Artisans from New Orleans
Artisans from New Orleans contributed to the art and inspiration behind the look of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. New Orleans artist Sharika Mahdi’s artwork has inspired the attraction from the beginning. The entrance to Tiana’s Foods features a colorful mural from Louisiana native artist Malaika Favorite. 3rd generation master blacksmith Darryl Reeves crafted Princess Tiana’s weathervane at his historic Seventh Ward New Orleans workshop.
4 – New Orleans Music
In the queue, listen to the company radio for all-new New Orleans-inspired music arranged and produced by Terence Blanchard, an award-winning musician and contributor to the soundtrack of “The Princess and the Frog.” In between songs, the radio announcer invites one and all to Tiana’s celebration.
5 – Voice Talent Returns
Top talent from different fields came together to bring the attraction to life! Many voice actors from the film reprise their roles including Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana, Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis and Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie. Terence Blanchard, an original musical contributor to “The Princess and the Frog” soundtrack, returned to create new music.
6 – Advanced Audio-Animatronics
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has some of the most advanced Audio-Animatronic figures ever seen on an attraction, with new and familiar faces like Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, Naveen, and three whole bands of musical critters. A whopping forty-eight all-new Audio-Animatronics figures are featured in the attraction.
7 – Disney Animators
Disney Animations’ artists, including the original animators of Tiana, Louis, and Naveen – Mark Henn, Eric Goldberg, and Randy Haycock, respectively – were instrumental in both the animation work and designs of the figures in the attraction.
8 – Original New Song
Following a thrilling 50-foot drop, the logs roll into a New Orleans neighborhood soiree at Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen’s home! The party is full of new and familiar faces, musical critters, and a new, original song written and produced by award-winning musician PJ Morton and performed by Anika Noni Rose, “Special Spice.”
9 – Leah Chase
Known as the “Queen of Creole Cuisine,” the late Leah Chase was the real- life inspiration for Princess Tiana. She is best known as the legendary chef behind Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, a New Orleans staple. Today, Walt Disney Imagineering has maintained a close relationship with the Chase family, and they have been instrumental to the development of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
