5 Reasons We Love the Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends on the Pixar Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy
Pixar Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy is a new-themed cruise offering from Disney Cruise Line. We enjoyed Pixar Day at Sea’s inaugural sailing in January 2023 and one of its offerings, Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends. This fun, entertaining breakfast is offered twice during the cruise, so all guests have a chance to enjoy it. Keep reading for the five reasons why we love the Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends.
1 – Exclusive Offering as Part of Pixar Day at Sea
Themed cruising on Disney Cruise Line provides guests with exclusive offerings that add extra magic to an already fantastic Disney cruise. One of the new exclusive offerings on the Pixar Day at Sea cruise is a new interactive character dining experience hosted by Sheriff Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye. While the actual Pixar Day at Sea fell on the third day of the cruise, the Cast Members who worked on Pixar Day at Sea knew that with all of the activities offered, it would be better for guests to enjoy the breakfast on different days so guests could enjoy the other Pixar Day at Sea offerings in the morning. So, for our cruise, we had the option to reserve a dining time for either day two or day six of our cruise (both sea days). Since this breakfast is a part of the Pixar Day at Sea, they will do everything possible to accommodate all guests.
2 – Reservations are Required, but this Guarantees You Get to Experience It
While the breakfast is included for all guests, reservations are required for the breakfast. I like the fact that this means I don’t have to line up or worry about if I can get the experience. Once booked, I know we’ll enjoy the experience, and then we can make plans around that reservation.
When I checked on making reservations before the cruise, the app said there was no availability. However, I checked again once we got on the ship, and there was availability for both day two and day six in the app. So, if you don’t get a reservation before you get on the ship, don’t worry; just check shortly after you arrive on the ship. Cast Members also shared with us that guests should go to Guest Relations if the app states there is no availability. They will help these guests get into the breakfast.
3 – Sing-along Show – Not a Character Meet and Greet
When we arrived for breakfast, as soon as we sat down, we were told by a Cast Member that this would not be a traditional character dining experience where we would meet the characters. We already knew this, but we did hear from a few guests that they were surprised. Just know that it’s a show with characters singing, dancing, and interacting with guests from afar.
I also want to mention that we were seated right in front of the walkway where the characters were. So, we had a really good view. One guest told me she was way back in the corner, so it was hard for her to see the characters. If being close and having a good view is really important to you, then kindly ask your server for a different table. They may not be able to move you, but it’s worth asking. We have learned that the crew and Cast Members will often do anything they can to improve your experience.
4 – Fun Entertaining Show
As I mentioned above, a singing cowboy with a guitar sings songs and encourages guests to sing along while Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye dance and wave. Do note that the characters come out for four different songs and then rotate again. We finished our meal after hearing three songs but stayed at our table for the fourth song. So they are not out the entire time of your meal.
We really enjoyed the entertainment, and it was a lot of fun to see the characters dance along, especially Bullseye. The singing cowboy did a good job entertaining the room, and the characters did a good job of moving around so many guests could see them. 5 – A Good Breakfast Dining Experience
The breakfast menu had a lot of variety and options for guests. We were first offered different pastries, muffins, croissants, and other bread items. Fruit, yogurt, and an oatmeal option are also available. As you would expect, eggs, omelets, a breakfast burrito, and plenty of sides are on the menu. There are also options like pancakes, French Toast, and Mickey Waffles hot off the griddle. You can get oatmeal or Cream of Wheat. There are three signature breakfast options, one of which is plant-based.
We felt like there were plenty of items that we could order, and our servers repeatedly asked us if we wanted more. I heard one guest later complain that she wasn’t served enough food during the meal. I feel her experience is unfortunate and can be avoided. Remember, while not advertised as an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, it certainly is. You can order as much as you want from the menu. You don’t have to order just one thing. The portions are small, so you’ll probably want to order a few different items from the menu. Again, our servers asked us many times if we wanted more items. So, you don’t need to go hungry during this meal! Don’t be afraid to ask for more!
The food quality is what you expect on Disney Cruise Line. The food could be compared to Chef Mickey’s. The Mickey Waffles were soft and warm, and my eggs were tasty and cooked well. The pastries are good and fresh.
Overall Thoughts and Recommendations
My sisters and I enjoyed the show and thought it was a great addition to Pixar Day at Sea. We appreciated that it was offered on a sea day and not on Pixar Day at Sea, spreading the magic and giving us more time for Pixar fun the next day. We enjoyed the entertainment and singing and enjoyed plenty of food to fill us up for the day. I love how it’s such a unique offering and one that really adds to the Pixar cruise. I’ve enjoyed a Marvel Day at Sea, and there is no additional breakfast offering on that themed cruise. And while we enjoyed a Pixar-inspired dinner on Pixar Day at Sea, it was really special to have time with the characters, even if they were just entertaining and not greeting. If you’re setting sail on a Pixar Day at Sea cruise, you won’t want to miss the Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends.
