by Chad and Cindy Nykamp

A Star Wars vacation experience unlike anything Disney has ever created before will fully immerse guests in a galaxy far, far away when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. We can’t wait to experience Star Wars in an entirely whole new way. Keep reading for everything we know so far about Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

1 – Cruising into the Galaxy in Spring 2022

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer a two-night, two-day itinerary where all guests arrive and depart at the same time, similar to Disney Cruise Line. It’s an all-inclusive experience that includes meals and entertainment. Unlike any typical cruise, though, guests can become the heroes of their own Star Wars stories in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin “transporting” guests to a galaxy far, far away in spring 2022.

2 – Totally Immersive “Storyliving”

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser invites guests into a new kind of “storyliving” as they travel the galaxy in style aboard the glamorous Halcyon starcruiser, known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. They will stay in well-appointed cabins, experience exquisite dining and out-of-this-world entertainment, visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and much more.

Throughout the journey, guests’ choices will determine their personal adventures by interacting with characters, crew, and other passengers they meet as they become part of the action and the broader Star Wars saga. Decisions guests make will determine how their individual stories unfold as they seize control of their destinies – and potentially impact the fate of the galaxy.

3 – Board the Halcyon

Guests will cruise the galaxy in style aboard the Halcyon, a starcruiser known throughout the galaxy for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. Onboard, they will stay in well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and much more.

The adventure begins when guests arrive at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal at Walt Disney World and check-in for their two-night experience. Guests will be invited to enter a Launch Pod for transport into space. Through the windows above, they’ll see themselves leave the real world behind as they jump to hyperspace and draw closer and closer to the Halcyon. When the Launch Pod docks with the Halcyon and the airlock opens, guests will step into the ship’s central deck Atrium to begin their journey through a galaxy far, far away.

4 – Enjoy Ship Entertainment & Activities

A visit aboard the Halcyon becomes a multi-day story that interweaves with members of the crew, other passengers, familiar Star Wars characters, like Chewbacca and Rey.

The all-immersive experience also features entertaining activities. First, guests (both adults and children) will be able to wield a lightsaber while facing off against a training remote, where guests may discover their own connection with the Force. This exercise is what we see Luke practicing in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Another activity calls for visiting the star cruiser’s Bridge to learn about ship systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense. Morrow Johnson elaborated that as the story unfolds, the defense systems guests learn at the Bridge just may come in handy.

Guests will also be able to explore the Halcyon, and perhaps discover hidden spaces deep in the mechanics of the ship – perfect for uncovering secrets … or holding secret meetings. Interestingly, the choices guests make during their adventure will help determine how their Star Wars stories progress.

5 – Dining on the Halcyon Starcruiser

Guests will find refreshment each day in an enticing supper club known as the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. This bright and welcoming hall will offer breakfast and lunch daily to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.

One night’s dinner will feature a live performance from a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of her jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.

6 – Excursion to Black Spire Outpost

Guests will also enjoy an off-ship excursion to the planet of Batuu, where guests will visit the Black Spire Outpost (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Guests will take a transport from the Starcruiser to Batuu. The choices and activities guests participate in on Batuu have consequences later on the ship. So, what guests do on Batuuu matters as everything is connected.

7 – See an Entirely New Lightsaber

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests will be the first to see characters like Rey wield a brand-new, more realistic lightsaber designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development to create dramatic in-person moments previously only seen in films or shows.

8 – Fun Facts About Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

  • Every window in the Halcyon starcruiser – including those in each cabin – has a view of the galaxy beyond, with ever-changing vistas as the ship progresses from destination to destination.
  • Guests will be able to explore the starcruiser and perhaps discover hidden spaces deep in the mechanics of the ship – perfect for uncovering secrets … or holding clandestine meetings.
  • The Crown of Corellia Dining Room is named for Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for the shipyards that created not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the famed Millennium Falcon.

9 – See a Model of the Starcruise at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For a limited time, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios can now see a model of the Halcyon starcruiser on display inside Walt Disney Presents.

10 – What We Don’t Know

There is a lot of speculation on the cost of a voyage on the Star Wars: Starcruiser with rumors being tossed around. At this point, no official price indicators have been given. There are also some questions on how this two-night experience will fit into a more extended Disney World vacation. Ann Morrow Johnson compared the experience to a Disney Cruise Line vacation. You’ll likely see similar “space and land” packages available for guests if they want to combine it with a stay at another Walt Disney World Resort. Finally, we’re really interested to see how the Starcruiser will look on the outside since every window will be covered. There is so much to learn about this experience, but we can’t wait to find out more.
