Hollywood Studios from A-Z
Alright, Hollywood Studios fans – this one is for you! Here’s a rundown of Hollywood Studios from A-Z. Let’s see if your favorite part about Hollywood Studios lands a spot!
A – Aerosmith’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Get ready to rock and roll with Aerosmith at a 60 mph start into rollover loops and corkscrew, all while cruising along in a super-stretch limo with a 125-speaker, 24 sub-woofer, 32,000-watt audio system. This coaster will leave you a bit dazed, but once you get your feet back on the ground, you’ll be ready to get back in line for a second ride!
B – Batuu
At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests are transported to the remote planet Batuu. It is a far-flung destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim, on the frontier of Wild Space – the uncharted region beyond all known star systems. The planet is home to Black Spire Outpost, an infamous port for smugglers, traders, and adventurers wishing to avoid any unnecessary … entanglements with the First Order.
C – Chewbacca in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
A legendary Wookiee warrior and Han Solo’s co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca (“Chewie,” for short) came to Batuu aboard the damaged Falcon. He needs special parts to fix his ship, and the Resistance needs fresh supplies, so Chewie made a deal to loan Hondo Ohnaka the Millennium Falcon for a few smuggling runs in exchange for the items he desperately needs.
D – Disney Junior Play and Dance!
Singing, dancing, and playing with puppets, your kiddos will thank you for taking them to this fun show. Plus, just outside the stage show, you’ll meet with some of Disney Junior’s most beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, Timon, Vampirina, and Doc McStuffins.
E – Echo Lake
Echo Lake is a classic area within Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here you’ll find Mickey Shorts Theater, Frozen Sing-Along, and Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. Dining options include 50’s Prime Time Café, Hollywood and Vine, Backlot Express, Min and Bills Dockside Diner, and Oasis Canteen.
F – Fantasmic!
Thirty minutes of live-action, fireworks, water images, characters, music, and an inspirational plot about dreams coming true lands Fantasmic as one of our absolute favorite parts about Hollywood Studios.
G – Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the largest and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion ever in a Disney park. The 14-acre land transports guests to the remote planet of Batuu, full of unique sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. Guests become part of their own Star Wars stories as they experience galactic food and beverages, such as iconic Blue Milk and Green Milk. They can craft their own lightsabers or build their own droids in immersive, interactive retail experiences. They can explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and may even come across iconic Star Wars characters.
H – Hollywood Brown Derby
Pull up a chair for some signature dining at the Hollywood Brown Derby. This American cuisine and star-studded atmosphere will have you feeling as if you’ve landed in the Golden Age of Tinseltown!
I – Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
First opening in 1989, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular has been a favorite for many for so many years now! Live-action and stunts – stuff being blown up – who wouldn’t love this show? If you have always wanted to experience this entertainment, now is the time, as time can only tell how long this production will remain open.
J – Jedi Holocron
During Star WarsCelebration 2019, April 11-15 in Chicago, many attendees who visited the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge booth recorded video testimonials sharing their personal Star Wars memories. These videos were embedded into a Jedi holocron that is now inside Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
K – Kylo Ren
Encounter Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! The Supreme Leader of the First Order strikes fear in the hearts of his foes with his imposing mask, long dark robe, iconic hilted red lightsaber, and notoriously violent temper. As a highly trained, Force-sensitive warrior, Kylo Ren is determined to root out the Resistance and travels to Batuu to search for and destroy any traces he can find.
L – Lunch Box Tarts
Woody’s Lunch Box is a very popular quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Woody’s Lunch Box serves tasty meals, and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window in a setting surrounded by Andy’s favorite toys and a giant vintage thermos. Make sure you get the Lunch Box Tarts available in raspberry and chocolate-hazelnut flavors. Although they are sort of like Pop-Tarts in design, these Disney treats are so delicious they blow away a regular Pop-Tart. They were our favorite item on the menu!
M – Midway Mania!
Ride along on an adventure as a toy in this 4D attraction, where you shoot at targets and collect points. Since its 2008 debut, Toy Story Mania! has been a blockbuster hit with families, combining the fun of a video game, 4D technology and interactions with favorite Pixar stars, including Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Buttercup, Rex and Trixie.
N – Num Num Cookies
Looking for a tasty treat? Head over to the Marketplace kiosk near Pixar Place for the best chocolate chip cookie you could imagine! Num Num Cookies are thick and tasty. You won’t want to share, Darling!
O – Olaf
Olaf is on his way to Hollywood Studios and is available for warm hugs! Olaf is celebrating summer and will greet you from the beach. It’s a great meet and greet; you don’t want to miss it!
P – Pluto and the Picnic Basket
In the story of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Mickey and Minnie set off on a journey to find the best spot for a romantic picnic, taking their little red convertible for a drive through Runnamuck Park. Little do they know Pluto has accidentally stowed away in the trunk of their car, so when the roadster hits a bump, and the dutiful dog flies out … mayhem ensues. It’s at this point Disney magic brings guests through the movie screen and into the cartoon world, where they join Engineer Goofy on a train ride on the Runnamuck Railroad, following Mickey and Minnie through the park on their quest for that perfect picnic. It’s up to Mickey and Minnie to keep guests out of trouble, all while poor Pluto tries to catch up and bring them their picnic basket!
Q – Quiet! Don’t Share the Location of the Secret Base!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance sets a new standard for a Disney theme park experience, as guests become heroes of the Resistance in a climactic battle with the First Order. In one of the most immersive, ambitious, and technologically advanced attractions ever created for a Disney park, guests launch into space aboard a transport shuttle, only to be captured by a Star Destroyer and pursued by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren as they frantically search for a way to escape the clutches of the First Order. Kylo is trying to get you to spill the beans on the location of the Rebel Base! So be quiet and don’t share!
R – Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie are starring in their own attraction, and we can’t get enough! In this bold and innovative new family adventure, guests go through the movie screen inside the park’s re-creation of the Chinese Theatre and into the whimsical world of Disney Television Animation’s Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts. There they discover why “mouse rules apply” and anything can – and does – happen! With an original “Mickey Mouse” story by Walt Disney Imagineering featuring the new song “Nothing Can Stop Us Now,” Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a celebration of Disney heritage and a showcase for state-of-the-art storytelling and attraction design.
S – Slinky Dog Dash
The main attraction in Toy Story Land is Slinky Dog Dash. The attraction is a family-friendly thrill ride around Andy’s backyard. In each 18-passenger coaster train, riders zip around and above Toy Story Land, catching great vistas of all the new land has to offer. Slinky Dog Dash features a second launch at its midpoint as riders experience cool sound effects and spinning lights, darting through a series of rings in a first for a Disney coaster. You’ll actually be pulled back, just like you would pull a toy car back before you dash forward on your way to the attraction’s finale featuring Wheezy, the squeaky penguin from the Toy Story films.
T – Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
It doesn’t matter if you hold on tight or stick your hands up in the air type of person when it comes to this attraction. Either way, this Tower of Terror elevator will take your breath away as you plummet 13 floors, then back up and down again!
U – Disney Legend Ub Iwerks Honored
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is full of hidden gems that nod to Disney history. The Iwerks and Uwerks Waterworks water treatment plant is named for Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, the animator credited with sketching Mickey Mouse for the first time.
V – ‘Vacation Fun’ at Mickey Shorts Theater
The newly reimagined Mickey Shorts Theater features a one-of-a-kind animated short featuring Mickey and Minnie, “Vacation Fun,” celebrating those true originals’ favorite vacation memories, plus a few new adventures. “Vacation Fun” is exclusive to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and includes new animation as well as clips from favorite “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts. After the show, guests can make even more memories by stepping into life-sized versions of beloved animated “Mickey Mouse” shorts, where they can pose for photos with family and friends.
W – Woody, Jessie, and Buzz
You’ve got a friend in me! Check out Woody and Jessie, who are available together for a meet and greet outside of Toy Story Mania. You’ll also find Buzz in front of Slinky Dog Dash, ready for out-of-this-world photos!
X – eXploding Volcano
In Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, guests are ushered inside the theater for the premiere of a new “Mickey Mouse” cartoon short, “Perfect Picnic,” written by Walt Disney Imagineering and produced by Disney Television Animation. When everything seems to go wrong, guests encounter many different scenes of Mickey and Minnie trying to help out guests on their train ride. In one of those scenes, guests will escape an exploding volcano (among other near-disasters!).
Y – Young at Heart
While Hollywood Studios is known for some of its thrilling attractions, such as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror – you’ll enjoy the ability to laugh out loud with street performers/entertainers that remind you of simpler times with silly moments and shows that are fun for all those young at heart.
Z – Zeal for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Unlike any attraction at Walt Disney World, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance draws guests into a sprawling Star Wars narrative that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, as jaw-dropping sights brimming with vivid detail create surprises around every turn. After two years, it’s still the most popular attraction at Walt Disney World.
