5 Reasons We Love the Plaza Restaurant

Because you’re a DisneyList.com reader, we’ll let you in on a Disney “hidden gem” and one of our favorite secrets in Magic Kingdom. Ready for this… the Plaza Restaurant! In plain sight but easily forgotten or passed by, we have fallen in love with dining at the Plaza. Here are five reasons why…

1 – Location, Location, Location

Smack dab in the middle of all the action, the Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom is located at the end of Main Street U.S.A., neighboring the yummy Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. The location is just about as perfect as it gets, as going to and from the Plaza is easy with its’ “just off the main path” location. We especially love that even when a parade or activity is taking place on Main Street U.S.A., we can still see the action but are able to scoot away from it through the Tomorrowland Terrace if we’d like. When you’ve spent the day walking all around the park, it’s nice to dine at a central location such as the Plaza.

2 – Perfect Views and Atmosphere

Get that camera ready and snap some photos of the spectacular view of the Cinderella Castle and of the beautiful Central Plaza (area between Main Street and the Castle) right from your table. (TIP – ask the hostess upon check-in for a table next to the window if possible). It’s fun to people-watch as families walk by with huge smiles. We also love catching glimpses of the parade from the window or even seeing the base of fireworks near the Castle. The views inside the Plaza are definitely worth mentioning as well. The best way to describe this restaurant atmosphere, in our opinion, is “charming”! With turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau touches, such as gorgeous light fixtures and mirrors, this décor says come on in and be refreshed.

3 – Time to Eat!

Now for the fun part – dining at the Plaza! First, we love that it’s a table service restaurant so we can make advanced dining reservations. The reason we say the Plaza is a hidden gem is because it doesn’t typically fill up as quickly as other restaurants, and it’s much easier to snag a reservation day of. With that being said, the day of reservations or walk-ins can be tricky since it is a small restaurant and does fill up at times for meals. The wait is worth it for the food! Meatloaf, burgers, sandwiches, chicken… the Plaza has simple menu selections with excellent flavors. Sometimes simple is exactly what we are looking for! And let’s not forget about desserts because that’s the Plaza’s specialty. Enjoy milkshakes, sundaes, cake – we’ll just take one of each, please!

4 – Saving the Budget

As soon as we started thinking of our top five reasons we love the Plaza, the price point was immediately on the list. Sure, quick-service dining would be cheaper than dining at the Plaza since it is a table-service restaurant. But if you are looking for an affordable table service spot at Magic Kingdom, the Plaza Restaurant is the most price-friendly on the budget! Enjoy all the benefits of a table service meal while keeping that wallet a little thicker.

5 – Family-Friendly

Our kids love dining at the Plaza. It’s not because it’s full of characters or any other fanfare excitement, but rather because it’s good food and a friendly place to be. The servers go out of their way to be sure the kids are comfortable and happy with their food.
