Follow DisneyLists on Our Disney Magic-Marvel Day at Sea Disney Cruise Adventure
If you follow us on Instagram, you may have seen our post last week that we’re going on our first Disney Cruise! We couldn’t be more excited to go on this cruise and share our experiences with you all along with tips and tricks we pick up along the way. We’ll be enjoying a 5 Night Caribbean Cruise with a Marvel Day at Sea on the Disney Magic. We leave, TODAY, January 6, and would love for you to follow along with us on our adventure. Keep reading to learn more about our week at sea!
1 – Cruising
While this is our first Disney Cruise, we (Chad and Cindy) LOVE cruising and have enjoyed experiences with other cruise lines. We’ve enjoyed sailing to ports from the sunny and sandy beaches of the Bahamas to the rugged coast and forests of Canada. But we’re not the only ones. A number of our DisneyList writers have also sailed the seas with Mickey and friends. We’re so excited to be adding a Disney Cruise channel to DisneyLists.com. In the coming weeks, our team will be adding articles, planning tips, and lists of some of our favorite things to help you plan your best Disney Cruise ever! Our past cruising will also allow us to focus on what makes a Disney cruise different and unique from other cruise lines.
2 – Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Cruise Line launched in 1998, and since its inception has established itself as a leader in the cruise industry, providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge, and children can experience all Disney has to offer. The Disney fleet includes four ships: Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy. Three more ships are scheduled for completion in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Itineraries include locations such as the Caribbean, Bahamas, Alaska, and Europe. Home port is Port Canaveral, Florida making a combined Disney World and Disney Cruise vacation a convenient option for many families.
Here are some fun facts and firsts for the Disney Cruise Line:
- At 1,115 feet, the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy are longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall (986 feet).
- Disney was granted special permission by the U.S. Coast Guard to paint its lifeboats yellow – rather than the traditional regulation color of orange – to preserve the Mickey Mouse color palette of red, yellow and black.
- Disney Cruise Line was the first cruise line to present a fireworks display at sea.
3 – Disney Magic
The Disney Magic is the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Its maiden voyage was July 30, 1998, but has received several refurbishments, including the latest just last year, to keep the ship up to date. It’s a relatively small ship with 875 staterooms and a capacity of 2,713 passengers. The largest Disney ships, the Dream and Fantasy, hold 4,000 passengers and have 1250 staterooms. We can’t wait to explore this ship and all that she has to offer!
4 – Marvel Day at Sea
We couldn’t be more excited for the Marvel Day at Sea on the Disney Magic. New character interactions (Captain Marvel!) and an action-packed deck show spectacular take center stage in the lineup of entertainment throughout the day-long celebration on all Marvel Day at Sea cruises.
Marvel Day at Sea combines the thrills of renowned Marvel comics, films and animated series, the excitement of a Disney Cruise to summon everyone’s inner Super Hero for the adventures that lie ahead during this unforgettable day at sea. The event features all-day entertainment including interactions with some of the mightiest Marvel Super Heroes and the menacing foes who oppose them, an extraordinary deck show spectacular, Marvel-themed youth activities, exclusive merchandise, and unique food and beverage offerings.
Be sure to check back with us for special coverage of this thrilling day at sea.
5 – Castaway Cay
Our final day will be a day at Disney’s Castaway Cay, a 1,000-acre private island with turquoise waters, powdery white sand beaches and swaying palm trees that is exclusive to Disney Cruise Line guests. With an authentic island barbecue and plenty of snorkeling and water sports, Castaway Cay provides a day of adventure, relaxation and quality time with the family.
Island amenities include:
- 20 premium 325-square-foot private, furnished cabanas in two locations: Castaway Family Beach (for families) and Serenity Bay Beach (for adults)
- Open-air massages with an ocean view, a yoga class and a bar at the secluded, adults-only beach, Serenity Bay
- Two Water Play Areas: Pelican Plunge and Spring-a-Leak
- The Hide Out, a teens-only activity area on the beach
- Port Adventures for everyone in the family, including stingray interactions, glass-bottom boat tours,
- parasailing and fishing
- Free childcare at Scuttle’s Cove, an expansive child’s area supervised by Disney counselors
- Disney Character Greetings, including a dance party with Lilo and Stitch
- Swimming, kayaking, water sports and more
