10 Tips for Cooler Weather at Walt Disney World
Cooler weather may not be common at Walt Disney World, but it does happen, particularly in winter. The cooler temps are typically experienced in the mornings or late evenings in the parks, but they are manageable. Here are our top ten tips for cooler weather at Walt Disney World:
10 – Pack a hoodie or light jacket.
If you know you will be traveling to Walt Disney World during one of the colder months, then it is a good idea to pack a light jacket and make sure that you have some warmer clothing options. Florida isn’t known to get very cold, and definitely not for very long, but it can sometimes get cold, especially in the evenings during the winter. It is a good idea to be prepared.
9 – Dress in layers.
We definitely recommend that you dress in layers when you hit the parks. If you know it will be colder in the morning and evening, then it is a good idea to dress so that you can lose layers as needed and then warm back up if it gets cool again in the evening. It can be hard to predict exactly how cold it will feel when you are there.
8 – Still pack your sunscreen.
It would be a mistake to leave without sunscreen. Even if it isn’t extremely hot, the sun’s rays are still very strong, and you will need to make sure that you have the appropriate protection, or you will regret it. It is still possible to get a bad sunburn even when it is cooler.
7 – Do outdoor attractions and rides during the warmer parts of the day.
If you think it is colder in the morning or evening, then try to do the outdoor attractions or rides during the warmest part of the days. These are usually the times around the middle part of the day. You can also bundle up for the evening activities, which will still be very enjoyable.
6 – Keep an eye out for the closest cocoa or warm beverage locations.
A warm beverage can definitely help to keep your hands warm and warm you up during cooler weather. There is something comforting about a warm beverage in cooler temps; you definitely won’t have a hard time finding them at Walt Disney World. There are also a wide variety of options and locations throughout the parks.
5 – Bring a bathing suit to swim in the pool.
Even though it may be cooler outside, you will be very glad to know that all of the pools at Walt Disney World resorts are heated. This means you can still comfortably swim in the pools even if the air is chilly. You will just want to keep your towel close by since it may not be as comfortable when you get out of the water!
4 – Make sure to stay hydrated.
Even if it is cooler out, you are still doing a lot of walking. You will want to make sure to stay hydrated so that you don’t find yourself feeling sick. There are a lot of options to get water around the parks. Water is free if you request water at locations that offer water in cups. There is a charge if you want to purchase bottled water.
3 – Consider purchasing park hopper tickets.
We like having park hopper tickets during cooler weather. Some parks have more indoor locations and experiences than others, so you may want to plan your day around the weather schedule and visit different parks during different times of the day.
2 – Wear a hat!
We have always heard that you lose the majority of heat through your head. Try wearing a hat when you are out and about in the parks to help keep you warm while you walk around the park and enjoy the different shows and attractions.
1 – Avoid water rides in the parks.
If you are really worried about the temperatures, then definitely pay attention to the signs for the attractions where you might get wet. If you are already cold, walking around in cold clothes will definitely only make you feel more uncomfortable!
