10 Things You Need to Know about Monsieur Paul
Monsieur Paul is one of the restaurants in the family of Disney Signature restaurants. If you haven’t dined at this one before, you will definitely want to after you read this top 10 things you need to know about the restaurant:
10 – Where to find the restaurant.
Monsieur Paul is located in the France Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase. Once you enter the France pavilion, you will want to head to the location above Chefs de France, as it is the restaurant on the second story of the building.
9 – You will need park admission to dine at the restaurant.
Since the restaurant is located inside Epcot, you will be required to have valid theme park admission at Epcot for the day of the reservation. Disney doesn’t allow guests to enter the park without admission, even if they only intend to eat at the park.
8 – Make a reservation in advance.
You will definitely want to make an Advanced Dining Reservation for your meal. The restaurant is very popular, and you will want to make sure that you get your desired time and date for your vacation. If you try to walk in without a reservation, there is a chance that you won’t get in or that you will have to wait for a long time.
Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World in 2020, existing dining reservations have been canceled through the end of 2020. A new 60-day booking window with reduced capacity will be rolled out soon.
7 – There is a dress code.
The restaurant does require a dress code for guests that dine there. The dress code for men includes khakis, slacks, jeans, or dress shorts with collared shirts. The dress code for women includes capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, or dress shorts. Clothing that isn’t allowed are tank tops, hats, swimwear, cut-offs (or any kind of torn clothing), or any t-shirts with offensive language or graphics.
6 – The atmosphere is terrific.
The restaurant is upscale and absolutely beautiful. The dining room has an elegant feel, precisely like you would feel if you were in a fine dining restaurant in the heart of France. Since the restaurant is on the second floor of the building, it also offers fantastic views of the France pavilion and the World Showcase lagoon.
5 – There are views of “Epcot Forever” from the restaurant.
The restaurant is beautiful all by itself, but the fact that you can watch “Epcot Forever” right from the restaurant definitely takes it up a notch. It is definitely a great idea to make a reservation during the fireworks to create an even more magical experience. If you are celebrating a special occasion, this will definitely set the mood to make it even more special.
Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World in 2020, nighttime spectaculars, including fireworks shows, are temporarily suspended.
4 – The restaurant offers a special New Year’s Eve event.
If you will be at Walt Disney World for New Year’s Eve and are looking for a fantastic dining event, then Monsieur Paul is the place for you. The location offers a high-end dining experience for three different services: Lunch, Dinner, and Premium Dinner. The menu is Prix Fixe with a fixed price per adult and child. The prices are cheapest at lunch and most expensive for the Premium Dinner (the meal that is the closest to midnight).
3 – There is a Prix Fixe dining option.
When you are dining at the restaurant, there is an option to enjoy the Prix Fixe dining option. With this option, you get to select one of the following from the list of options: appetizer, entrée, and dessert. You get a complete 3-course meal for a set price. It gives a great taste of France, too! If you don’t want to order from the Prix Fixe menu, you can also order individually from the different selections available.
2 – The restaurant is only open for dinner.
Even though we may wish that the location was open for other services, the location is only open for dinner. If you want to enjoy this fine dining experience, then you will have to make your plans around the dinner hours.
1 – The restaurant is quite pricey (and accepts the Disney Dining Plan).
The restaurant is definitely on the expensive side. The entrees are $40+ by themselves, not counting any appetizers, desserts, or drinks that you have while you dine. The location does accept table service Disney Dining Plan entitlements but will require 2 entitlements to be used per guest (over the age of 3). You will definitely want to budget for this one, but it will be well worth it.
