Walt Disney – Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour Review
We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to go on the Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour on a recent Disney vacation. If you are considering this tour, then you definitely want to check out what we learned from our experience so you can plan accordingly.
What is it?:
This event is a 3-hour guided tour where you get to learn more about the history of Walt Disney and how that shaped the creation of the Magic Kingdom. You get to learn a lot of fun facts, see backstage areas, and how certain attractions work as well as ride 3 different attractions with minimal waiting.
Cost:
The cost varies from $49, depending on the season. The money is due at the time that you book the tour. There are also discounts for Annual Passholders, DVC, and other memberships that may be available, so be sure to ask about those. Note: You must cancel at least 3 days in advance of your tour date to get a full refund.
Things to consider before booking:
This is a 3-hour walking tour around the Magic Kingdom. You will be standing or walking the majority of the tour.
The tour is only for ages 12 and up. If you have small children in your party, you will want to ensure that they have other care during the tour since they won’t be allowed to join.
The tour is wheelchair accessible, but must be able to transfer to experience the attractions on tour.
You will want to wear comfortable shoes and clothes since you will be doing a lot of walking. The tour also occurs rain or shine, so you will want to check the weather forecast and be prepared.
Cameras aren’t permitted in backstage areas, so you will not be allowed to take pictures there.
The tour is subject to change if there are issues with particular attractions or other events that occur.
You must also have park admission for the day in order to attend the tour.
What to expect: (SPOILERS!!!)
First, you will check-in at the Town Square Theater. You will need a photo ID to check-in and proof of any discounts that you have requested. You will be given an audio device to wear where you will be able to hear the guide from their microphone during the tour. This will definitely help when there are other guests around since the parks are quite loud.
You make your way down Main Street, USA, toward Liberty Square. You learn a lot about Walt Disney history, and these elements incorporated into Magic Kingdom. Once in Liberty Square, you also learn additional information about that land and the Hall of Presidents. You will make your way to the Haunted Mansion, where you get to learn about the various Easter eggs in the attraction. You get to take a ride on the attraction and then go backstage of the attraction and see firsthand how they pull off some of the ghost scenes.
After leaving Haunted Mansion, the tour takes a bathroom break at the Tangled restrooms in Fantasyland. You next make your way through Fantasyland, where you learn more about some of the Fantasyland attractions. You also get to ride the Winnie the Pooh ride through the FastPass+ line, so there is minimal waiting.
Tomorrowland is next on the agenda where the guide talks about the vision of Tomorrowland and the re-theming that the land received decades back. The guide also talks about Walt’s love of technology and research in this area. Tour guests then get to go on Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress and learn a lot more in-depth information about the attraction.
Is it worth it?
I definitely feel like this tour is worth the cost if you are a huge fan of Walt Disney and learning behind the scenes information. If you don’t have an interest in those areas, you will probably find the tour to be boring. I felt like the tour was appropriately priced for the experience and that we learned a lot of great information that we still talk about.
